SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

Our main goal for sustainability is to meet economic, environmental, and social needs without compromising the living conditions of future generations, thereby ensuring sustainable development.

Sustainability is a socio-ecological process and also has cultural impact areas. As all employees, we are committed to embedding sustainability as a culture within our organization.

We carry out our activities diligently to protect nature and support local employment. We aim to preserve healthy natural ecosystems and biodiversity. In this context, we keep our beaches clean and prioritize the habitats of aquatic life.

To contribute to the development of tourism in our region, we inform our guests about our local, historical, and cultural heritage.

We ensure the use of natural and renewable resources for sustainability. In managing natural resources, our goal is to use energy resources efficiently and prevent air, water, and soil pollution.

With a Zero Waste approach, we conduct our activities by reducing waste at the source, reusing, and recycling materials to protect the environment.

As an organization, we commit to complying with and keeping up-to-date with all applicable national and international regulations in all product and service processes, especially those that may affect human health and safety, as well as the safety of the environment and other living beings.

To protect the environment, we prefer eco-friendly products and use resources such as energy and water efficiently, thus preserving natural resources.

We protect endemic plants to maintain the balance of ecological species.

  • Have Quality Management Systems, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, and internationally recognized environmental and sustainability labels/certifications.

  • Ensure that their production and procurement activities have no harmful effects on the environment and comply with environmental regulations.

  • Use and consume resources appropriately without harming wildlife or ecosystems, and comply with hunting restrictions.

  • Work to minimize and properly manage waste, and provide alternatives such as reduced packaging or bulk packaging.

  • Offer eco-friendly, resource-efficient, local, and ethically sourced alternatives, including recyclable or recycled materials, organic, bio, vegan products, products not tested on animals, and free from harmful chemical components.

  • Be local suppliers and producers.

  • Provide products and services that reflect or promote our country’s/regional cuisine, traditions, and culture.

We value these principles and communicate them to our stakeholder suppliers. Together with our suppliers, we aim to create efficient procurement opportunities while minimizing the environmental impacts arising from procurement processes.

As Comfort Hotel, for the protection and sustainability of the environment we live in:

While carrying out our activities, we identify possible dangers and negative impacts on the environment and nature, use natural resources in the most efficient way, reduce waste amounts to ensure recycling, and prevent environmental pollution.

We aim to minimize the environmental impacts arising from our activities by ensuring the correct use of resources and proper separation of waste, thus preventing air, water, and noise pollution and their negative effects on human health and nature. Through the training we provide to our employees, we ensure the protection of health, the environment, and the continuity of natural life, and we are committed to leaving a cleaner environment for future generations.

We comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and requirements; we fulfill all obligations, and we carry out our activities with a philosophy of continuous improvement.

CHILDREN’S RIGHTS POLICY

We acknowledge and accept the principle stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Human Rights Conventions that everyone is entitled to enjoy rights and freedoms without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, or other status.

We comply with the obligations regarding the protection of children’s rights as set forth in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The four fundamental principles—non-discrimination, the best interests of the child, the right to life, survival and development, and the right to participation—are the core values of our policy.

We take all necessary legal and administrative measures concerning children and their rights.

We believe that children should grow up in an environment where happiness, love, and understanding prevail to ensure their full development.

We accept the necessity of raising our young guests in the spirit of peace, respect, tolerance, freedom, equality, and solidarity.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY POLICY

In order to protect our planet from potential threats, we use energy efficiently and set targets to reduce our energy consumption.

To achieve this:

  • We follow national and international standards, laws, and regulations to fulfill both our responsibilities towards nature and our legal obligations. We voluntarily carry out initiatives to reduce energy use and/or to continuously improve our energy consumption performance, and we monitor the results of these efforts.

  • We set targets and include energy efficiency in our training programs to ensure the participation of our employees.

  • We value cooperation with all stakeholders to create shared goals and outcomes in energy management. We strive to maintain interaction with our guests, employees, visitors, and business partners to achieve collective awareness and consciousness in this regard.

  • We research, procure, and use energy-efficient products, equipment, machinery, and technological alternatives.

  • We aim to document our Energy Management System, disseminate it across all departments, update and review it when necessary, and continuously improve it.

  • We assess potential energy risks or emergencies such as energy constraints and plan the necessary preventive measures.

  • Closely following technological advancements, legal requirements, and regulations.

  • Remaining open to innovation and placing strong emphasis on training.

WOMEN’S RIGHTS AND GENDER EQUALITY POLICY

At our establishment, we place great importance on gender equality.

  • We ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all our employees, regardless of gender.

  • We support women’s participation in the workforce across all departments and provide equal opportunities.

  • We adhere to the principle of “equal pay for equal work” without gender discrimination.

  • We do not tolerate any form of exploitation, harassment, discrimination, suppression, coercion, defamation, or similar actions against women. We always recognize the value women bring to our institution and to the world, and we support their presence.

PROTECTION OF THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

We provide information to all our stakeholders to ensure the protection and promotion of our cultural heritage.

Cultural heritage supports sustainable development and provides social and economic resources to various stakeholders. A sustainable cultural heritage management approach is important for the relationship between society and the environment, both for today’s society and for future generations.

Economically, cultural heritage supports the development of tourism by creating employment and, as a result, generates income for the local population. In terms of social sustainability, it fosters social cohesion and has positive impacts on the well-being of local communities. From an environmental perspective, it promotes the green economy and climate adaptation.

Sustainable conservation in cultural heritage management aims to ensure social justice and equality, cultural continuity, economic development, participatory and transparent principles involving all stakeholders, and the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage values. It also includes processes such as natural environment management, socio-cultural context, social integration, identity and sense of belonging, socio-economic and local development, and resource generation for sustainable preservation.

The sustainability of cultural heritage depends on a management plan with rational and holistic planning, which is based on balancing the protection, use, and continuity of cultural assets, planning tourism and visitor management, preventing risk factors, supporting local development, and fostering heritage awareness.

To promote our cultural heritage to all our guests, we carry out local presentations through our website, information channels, and guest relations. We support cultural richness and local producers in the region, contributing to the local economy. We also assist in introducing our guests to the region’s cuisine, activities, culture, and traditions.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We act with a sense of responsibility towards society and social awareness, taking part in social responsibility projects within the framework of sustainability.

One of the key dimensions of sustainability is social responsibility. Beyond contributing to the development of civil society–private sector cooperation, social responsibility is also crucial for achieving sustainable development. Activities developed within the scope of social responsibility contribute to the environment, society, and the economy. Social responsibility projects are highly important in raising awareness both for individuals and for society as a whole.

Corporate social responsibility encompasses responsibilities towards employees, customers (consumers), nature and the environment, the state, suppliers, and society at large, thereby creating value for all stakeholders.

We support social responsibility projects that aim to give a voice to disadvantaged groups in society, meet their needs, or raise awareness on certain social issues, in order to create a positive impact.

We also provide social aid to disaster victims.

WORKING LIFE – EQUAL OPPORTUNITY – BUSINESS ETHICS

As an “environmentally conscious business” and a “green workplace,” we are sensitive to environmental issues, use our resources effectively, and fulfill our social responsibilities.

Sustainable Human Resources Management means meeting the optimal needs of both the business and society without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations.

In sustainable working life, our principles are: managing employees with social responsibility, supporting employee health, and improving their living standards.

Through our human resources management, we implement environmental responsibility practices such as encouraging employees to walk, cycle, or use public transportation, using energy-efficient lighting systems or equipment, and promoting environmentally friendly behavior in the workplace.

We adhere to the principle of not employing individuals under the age of 18 in any recruitment process. We uphold workplace fairness, support human rights throughout our supply chain, comply with International Labour Organization (ILO) standards, and ensure ethical principles, values, and codes of conduct are respected. Employees are introduced to ethical rules at the beginning of their employment, undergo a comprehensive health examination upon hiring, and receive periodic medical check-ups thereafter. We also provide improvements in processes such as transportation, nutrition, office ergonomics, and quality of life.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committees, including employee representatives, are established. Employees receive training from occupational safety experts and workplace physicians, with certification programs applied. Regular inspections and audits are conducted to identify and prevent OHS risks. Personal protective equipment is provided according to the nature of the job. A permanent workplace doctor and health personnel are employed. Employees are informed by the workplace physician about occupational diseases and prevention methods.

First aid training is provided to staff, and annual fire drills are conducted. Ergonomics and industrial hygiene practices are implemented to improve lighting and indoor air quality, control noise, humidity, and temperature levels, and upgrade equipment. Drinking water and food are regularly analyzed every month.

We provide a non-discriminatory, fair, peaceful, development-oriented work environment where people are valued. Equal opportunities are created for all employees from the moment of recruitment, regardless of gender. We offer employment opportunities for people with disabilities and intern students, while also aiming to increase local employment.

We support the “Equality at Work” project. Additional benefits include access to a health center, staff housing, 50% coverage of treatment expenses at private healthcare institutions, and fair remuneration practices based on the principle of “equal pay for equal work.” Orientation training is provided at the start of employment, along with in-service training opportunities.
